The board is very reluctant to fund any non-clininical role.

And yet the clinicians themselves say to those of us in non-clinical roles: “We are clinicians. We need you to do this for us.”

They’re right to say that, too. Their focus should be their clinical duties.

But what they do not know is that the back office has been stripped bare.

In deciding only to fund clinical roles, the board doesn’t realise they are, in fact, overloading clinicians with non-clinical work they have no desire to undertake.

We shudder to think what Starmer’s upcoming “unpopular decisions” entail. Will we be cut back even further, so that already overstretched clinicians are asked to do everything?

No wonder people are leaving in droves. Nobody wants to do this much work. Something will have to give.
