Activists of the right and left, religious and anti-religious, see a conspiracy. Facts are too slow to emerge. Therefore, it must be a cover-up.
One side is desperate the perpetrator will be from their avowed foes, to further cement their narrative, “We told you so!”
A fringe has already come up with an identity, though nowhere reported by officialdom (and now disowned by authorities), and waste no opportunity to repeat it everywhere.
Some wait with baited breath, praying and praying that it has nothing to do with them, scouring every news report for vindication.
But the truth which escapes the activist of whatever hue is that due process must be allowed to run its course. It takes time for evidence to be gathered and a suspect to be questioned, much less their motives understood.
Only when the case goes to court however many months or years later will any facts really emerge. But that is too far off for the agitating activist, desperate to make political capital of a hideous crime.
So, instead, it will be a cover-up of extraordinary dimensions, orchestrated by a corrupt elite. Facts don’t come into it. For these, only what they choose to believe will ever be true. Anything else is pure treachery.
