Was it worth reaching that hallowed status of CEO of one of Britain’s most recognisable public institutions?

Sure, there was the salary. Nearly £60,000 a month: vastly more than most people earn in a year. Over £5 million over the course of your tenure.

But, really, was it worth it? What did you actually do to earn that kind of salary?

When asked to make important decisions, you simply replied to your advisors, “I’ll take your steer on this.”
