We are told that the people of Gaza voted for Hamas, and therefore deserve everything they get.

But the last election there was 18 years ago. That means anyone under 35 today did not vote for them — about 70% of the population.

Of the 75% of eligible voters who did cast a vote in 2006, 44% chose the Hamas-aligned party, Change and Reform.

A quarter of eligible voters did not vote at all, and 56% of those who did vote voted for others.

Of course, this is how a democracy works. We do not hold the entire British population to account for the actions and decisions of our government.

The collective punishment of an entire population for the actions of people linked to their supposed representatives is clearly wrong and most unjust.
