The YouTube algorithm still insists on serving me white nationalist and white supremacist content.

I don’t think I’ve done anything to cause it to select this content for me.

My subscriptions are mostly crafting, construction, coding and DIY channels, with a very small smattering of religion and current affairs.

Could my past commenting history be to blame? Well I’ve purged all that, along with likes going back six years.

But still, it continues to recommend the same kind of content, over and over. What’s going on?

In the latest, a former squaddie who lives near me laments the awful oppression of his Caucasian people, which will soon have him joining the Patriotic Alternative.

For the record, neither him nor I are Caucasians. Most Britons are a concoction of Normans, Vikings, Romans, Francs, Celts, Manx, Welsh and others.

Ironically, it could be said that my wife — a foreigner in the eyes of these nationalists — is actually of  Caucasian descent.

Indeed, if you glance across the horizon from our hillside house, you may catch sight of the summits of the Caucasus mountains in the morning sun.

I am not a self-hating pinkish-white person. I just happen to think that judging a person’s worth or belonging based on the quantity of melanin in their epidermis is pretty dumb.

Migration has been an integral part of human history, and always will be. That is how the nations of Australia, Canada and the United States of America came to be.

In the recent past, pinkish-white people like me migrated and settled all over the world from east to west and north to south. Now it is the turn of others.

Do I not fear being replaced? Well clearly the likelihood of that is pretty slim, given that over 80% of the population still considers itself white, and 75% white British.

But even if it didn’t, so what? How the world will look after my demise is no concern of mine. Perhaps new ethnicities will be borne of the intermixing of peoples, as witnessed since the dawn of humanity.

Perhaps there will be some benefits for our species in that happening. Perhaps it will result in better resistance to disease or climatic change, or create new intellectual potential, or build stronger bonds between communities.

What is the true patriotic alternative? To me, it is to view all of humankind our brethren, whose worth is determined not by what they look like, but by how they behave and treat others.

If only the YouTube algorithm could read me, that’s the kind of content I would like it to serve to me. Division and hostilities is of no interest to me at all. Show me people of peace and sound heart.
