Our eldest likes to think we’re uneducated fools, easily hoodwinked by teenage subterfuge.

In response to their clandestine activity on their computer whilst pretending to do their homework, I must point out the obvious.

I have worked in IT for eighteen years, and so may, just possibly, be a step or two ahead of them, clearly aware of exactly what they’re doing.

The present is an age of enlightenment for them, as their synapses make new connections exponentially. The boost in confidence is wonderful to see.

However, sometimes they need reminding that mum and dad are graduates who have had productive careers, not the village idiots they suppose them to be.

No, but the present is a time for patience, in which we must get used to being on the receiving end of a cutting insult daily.

The commonplace arrogance of the teenage soul can sometimes be quite perturbing. I can’t wait until they take our place, and their kids treat them like fools.
