“Could you redo the patio?”
Well, I could, but that’s not to say it would be any good. I think that’s a job for the professionals. But it will be very expensive.
That’s an understatement. The quotes we got for our little courtyard at the bottom of the garden were eye watering. That’s why I did that one myself.
“So you could do this too. I’m sure you’ll do a great job.”
That was a success because it has rustic charm. It blends in with the planting which surrounds it. That’s my wee refuge from the world.
But up near the house: that’s not the place for another of my famous bodges. Better to leave it as it is, than risk me making a complete mess of it with a tonne of stone and mortar.
I do enjoy working outside with my hands. But I’m more suited to donkey work than anything demanding skill and attention to detail. This, a request too far.
Nope, my last job this year will be a new roof for my shed: two sheets of OSB, screwed in place. A job I would have completed by now if only I had a larger car to transport the sheets back home. As it is, I must await delivery. I know my limits.
