I can’t sleep these days. I blame coffee, or my high cholesterol. Sunday night, I didn’t sleep at all, until after fajr prayer at dawn. Monday night, I slept better, after shunning caffeine all day, making up for the previous night. Last night I couldn’t sleep until well after three, giving me just a few hours rest before rising for work. This sleeplessness is not sustainable, so I know I must cut out all coffee, tea and screens. Then again, perhaps I’m being rendered awake because I’m supposed to stand for tahajjud. Perhaps that is what my body truly seeks. Maybe I will try that next time sleep refuses to take me. Perhaps you should try that too.
