What was your reaction to the dehumanisation of an entire people?
Did you play, “I’m not one of them; I’m with you”?
Did you hate it in your heart, or did you quietly agree?
Did you discard all you once believed in because the propaganda was too strong, or too convincing?
How fortunate you are not to be of them, burdened by all those horrific traits, condemned the whole world over!
Who will dare stand up for a dehumanised people, brutalised without pause, yet scapegoated not as victim but as oppressor?
Who dares look them in the face, to see their reality?
Who dares let their own hatreds be challenged by facts?
If you saw their humanity, would you rush to their side?
Would you dare proclaim, “No, I will not be a part of this”?
Or would the personal cost be too great?
What does it take to not dehumanise an entire people?
