Who would have thought getting a student discount for a bus journey across county boundaries could be so hard?
Our county provides a young person’s travel card, but it can only be used for travel within the county. Therefore, it can not be used for the eight mile journey to college in our nearest large town.
The county the college is located in also offers a similar card. However, that one is only available to county residents. There is no facility for youngsters who must cross the county boundary mid-route.
Oh well, you may think, they can presumably use their college photo ID to prove their eligibility for a student discount? Yes, you’d think so, wouldn’t you, but apparently not.
Our only option, it seems, is to apply for an International Student Identity Card because the neighbouring shires are clearly worlds apart. Such joined up thinking. What an utter palava.
