It’s not really a surprise — it was only a matter of time — but I return from leave to discover my manager has resigned.
My wife responds, “Oh no, they will pile even more on your shoulders!”
I just think, “What’s new?”
The rest of us are resigned to the fact that this is our lot. We’re the glue between all the ill-fitting pieces.
Even if we thought it was time to move on, we know there’s nowhere to go.
Some resign from their jobs. The rest of us resign to them.
