Ah well, I managed to go 68 hours without being tempted to peek at my work emails.

Then I caught sight of the red exclamation marks apparently saved up specially for my absence.

Why fix the issues now rather than await my return? Only to address the preposterous diagnoses and interventions of my tech-averse colleagues.

Some might call this workaholicism. Others might commend my dutiful sense of service. Others still would just call me a nerd.

I can’t really explain it myself. Maybe the truth is this: I simply don’t know how to relax. Not until everything has been fixed.

Yes, and so naturally, I have fixed each issue, which warranted being tagged urgent, a day into my annual leave. No rest for the wicked, as they say.
