Do we actually know how anybody is really doing? Appearances can be deceptive, after all.
Does the car we drive or house we live in tell us all we need to know? Not really.
What about the job we do or the school our children go to?
Who’s to know what mountain of debt lies behind the apparition of great wealth?
Who can appreciate the contentment of one who appears to have nothing at all?
Who’s to say how life is going for anyone, away from the curated social media posts and online resumes?
This is a reminder for myself, first and foremost, so often knocked off course by the apparent successes of others.
Ask yourself: “How are you really doing?” Are you not content in yourself?
Why measure yourself up against the appearance of what others have? To everyone is what they earn.
