Every day, another shock at the lamentable digital skills — or lack thereof — of those all around me.

For thirty years now, computers have been an inescapable presence in the workplace.

Those who entered the labour market in the 1980s might be forgiven for their reluctance to learn the new skills of the digital age.

But what of my generation, or those that followed? How can it be that the skills are not even acquired by osmosis?

I find the skills deficit completely perplexing. The most basic, I have long taken for granted. But no longer.

Is it really any wonder cyber breaches and project failures are so common? We barely have the productivity skills to make it through the day.
