“Wake up!” cries the bright young woman, lauded all over social media, “The world has become beholden to Soviet propaganda!”
To much applause, she goes on to tell us of the marriage of convenience between the atheist radical left and the ultra religious radical right: the Marxists and the Islamists.
Yes, these two have joined forces in a covert union to bring about the destruction of the West.
To which I respond, “Nonsense!”
For it was the CIA that funded the mujahideen in Afghanistan to counter the Soviet Union for thirteen years from 1979.
The same body, along with the US State Department, later went on to fund the jihadi rebels in Syria and Libya in an effort to destabilise Russian allies in the region.
And these are only the most famous examples of Western powers supporting militant groups abroad sold as an extremist scourge domestically.
The reality is that all the global powers are actively co-opting any group useful to them at any particular moment in time. That includes both religious groups and nationalists.
The truth that young lady is yet to grasp is that you should avoid being played by any side, least of all the intelligence services of global powers, east or west.
We should avoid subservience to any group fighting to dominate others. Perhaps that means not choosing any side at all, other than championing the rights of the poor, downtrodden, and oppressed.
Who dares respond to the young woman who apparently had an epiphany after watching a few videos in Alt-Reality cyberspace just last week: “Wake up, yourself!”
