One day off work — a lovely day at that — but I return to numerous emails and messages about a problem at work.
My colleagues have been pinging me all day, it seems, in the hope I might respond (like I usually do).
When I didn’t because I couldn’t, they tried IT. But IT said they couldn’t help either.
Funny that, because I left an article in both their knowledge base and our own, detailing what to do in an emergency.
I take the blame for this, of course. I’ve been too reliable for years, responding to every issue immediately, even when I clearly shouldn’t.
Maybe if I was less reliable, they might have funded a little resilience by now. Perhaps I should go on a jolly without access to systems more often.
In any case, it took me about a minute to fix the problem on my return. I wonder who I can train to try that next time. Anyone? Anyone at all?
