We get so tied up in the tests of others — those facing war and oppression overseas — that we don’t notice the tests right in front of us.
The family dispute, the elderly relative with dementia, the fighting children, the unexpected expenses — in the face of all of these, we still have to make a choice.
Will we respond in the best of ways, with the best of manners, with magnanimity and forgiveness? Or will we forget ourselves?
How easy to forget, while worrying about those facing tests we would never be able to bear. But the truth: all of life is a test.
