The kids tell me: “You’ve been so grumpy lately.”

This perplexes me, because I don’t think I have.

“You’ve been grumpy for about a month.”

I’m adamant I wasn’t. I don’t remember this at all.

“You were so grumpy, you didn’t even notice yourself.”

No, I don’t think so. “Actually, I’ve been quite content, happy.”

“Well, then, you were probably happy being grumpy,” replies our eldest with quick wit.

Here, we discover how those closest to us interpret our behaviour.

How then for strangers encountering us for just moments?

Talk about misunderstood.
