Growing up, we feared our parents. But this is a different generation.

Yes, we upset and disappointed our parents in our time too, without a doubt.

But would we mock and jeer them, or would we fear the consequence of doing so?

Much less threatening them in rage? The tables have turned.

Today, not only do children not fear their parents, but parents also fear their children.

It’s a small mercy that they still have the humility to apologise the following day when their temper has subsided.

Still, each flare-up breaks hearts, chiselling away at these fragile relationships.

Who’s to know when the threats will be made real, as they shoot past us in height and grow in strength?

May God protect us from our unbridled rage, and sow mercy and kindness in our hearts.
