Just as my heart begins to incline towards yet another expensive gadget I can’t really justify, messages arrive from two families in dire need, pleading for support to escape with their lives.
I should thank God for this answer to the inner murmurs causing me to evaluate the pros and cons of different slabs of glass, watching review after review. If moments ago I was coming around to the benefits of one over the other, these messages shake me back to reality.
Naturally, I now realise that the money I was beginning to believe I might drop on an Ultra or a Plus is earmarked for folk in greater need. Why else would the request land just as I was pondering squandering it on an extravagant luxury?
Let me make do with what I have. And let me drop the asking price of big tech on what is ultimately of far greater worth: the preservation of human life. We won’t take a single gadget with us when we leave this world, but our charities will live on forever. Perhaps they will even intercede on our behalf.
