What I fear most is that our own wrongdoing will be our downfall.

In our Book we read that God destroyed many generations before us when they did wrong or were unjust.

So why do we think it should be any different for us?

Perhaps our enemies are most unjust, and this will be their downfall. But what of us?

Are we behaving as we are called to? Are our actions beyond reproach? Are we fair and just and true?

Will those perpetrating attrocites on all sides not face an accounting for their actions sooner or later?

We little people cannot comprehend the games warlords play to sow seeds of war all around.

All we know is the promise of God, that the unjust will not stand.

And do not incline toward those who do injustice lest you be touched by the fire…

Quran 11:113

We are not called to stand with our tribe come what may, as if we are supporting a team, but rather to side with the just.

Amongst all people on all sides there are the good and bad, the just and criminal.

We just hope there are enough of the former that we will not all simply be wiped off the face of the earth, but we must take the repeated warnings seriously.

Over and over, we are warned not to be unjust.

No, be just. Put things right between people. Treat people equitably. Do not deprive people of their rights. Do not transgress the limits. Do not cause harm.
