There is no moral high ground in war. The best you can do is limit harm.
The moral high ground was ceded weeks ago, and all the world could see it.
Only politicians and the arms industry (usually intertwined) had any trouble articulating that truth.
The moral high ground was lost the moment the corrupt chose to respond to attrocites with more extreme terror, multiplied many times over.
The government is playing catchup with public sentiment, possibly surprised by opinion polls.
But the time to develop a backbone was two months ago, and at every juncture before that when our leaders carried us into senseless wars destroying the lives and opportunities of millions.
Yes, our allies have now lost the moral high ground. But so too have we.
