You never know the good that will come out of a bad situation. You may think something is bad, when in fact it’s good for you.

In my late teens and early twenties, for example, I was so exceedingly skinny that I would try everything to attempt to build weight. At the time, living with that body was pretty horrible, for little seemed to help.

However, all these years later, that experience has helped me to provide appropriate care to one who came to us malnourished and underweight, shunning meals and giving up on life. By applying what did work for me, we’ve seen them regain their appetite and confidence.

The truth is, had it not been for my experiences as a young adult, I probably wouldn’t have known how to address that situation. Perhaps we’d still be struggling to get them to eat. As it is, they’re regaining their independence, enjoying food once more.

Yesterday, they even stirred the soup I’d left simmering on the cooker, and suggested how it might be improved. That’s progress. Be patient with a bad situation, for you never know the blessings you have in store.
