The truth of the matter is that most people haven’t a clue what it is that we believe. Indeed, even many of Muslim heritage don’t have a clue either.

If I think back to the first Muslim acquaintances I made at the age of sixteen, neither of them could (or were prepared to) tell me any core principle or belief.

We should not be surprised then if we find others shocked by the discovery that Muslims honour Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and others as great prophets.

Nor should it surprise us that they have never heard of the charitable dimensions of faith, or the imperative to strive towards truthfulness, justice and peace.

I was exactly the same, until I set out on the journey of discovery, determined to seek the truth. I too had to set many an obstacle to one side, and open my heart and mind to possibilities until then unknown.
