What a state of affairs to be in when your denials for having been responsible for hitting a hospital is admitting, “If we had been responsible, the entire hospital would have been obliterated.”
The saddest part is that in this you are telling the truth. To assassinate one man, you do destroy entire apartment blocks, wiping out whole families. To neutralise a single target, you do smash to pieces whole neighbourhoods, leaving behind gargantuan craters.
So it’s possible, this may be another of those accidents that regularly occur when the militants’ homemade rockets — allegedly manufactured by digging up critical infrastructure like water pipelines — misfire and drop out of the sky on their own populace.
This the mayhem that occurs when psychopathic maniacs are charged with running the affairs of the people. Neither side now bothers to pretend, “We do everything in our power to avoid civilian casualties.”
They just say it as it is: their goal is to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, at any cost. Sod the rules of war, or even basic humanity. Forget striving to create a state of safety and health for all. Here a battle in which the bankrupt proclaim their innocence by announcing that they would do much worse.
