The thing is, when you question my loyalty to my nation, I question your loyalty to humanity.

I hold that all people are worthy of respect, regardless of where they were born or raised.

We are not amoeba. We’re developed lifeforms, capable of profound thought, by which we may contemplate our very existence.

I hold that all people have the right to life, property and safety, free from the torment of warmongers. I both wish good fortune for my neighbour and a stranger in some far off land I will never visit.

I hold to a principle far above narrow nationalism or sectarianism. That is this:

“O mankind! Lo! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that you may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of God, is the best in conduct. Lo! God is knowing, aware.”

Quran 49:13

I am loyal to those in my nation who are best in conduct: those who are just and fair. There are many in my nation of this kind, and I stand with them.

I am disloyal to those who are unjust, striving their utmost to cause harm and corruption all over. I believe these are a minority, but they are generally powerful and influential. I stand against these, and I suggest you do too.

Be with the noble. They could be of the same faith as you, or they may not be. It doesn’t really matter. Be fair and just to friend and stranger alike. Thus will you be judged.
