Be witnesses to truth. This is our central calling.
To determine the truth, we must investigate, undertaking to research and probe as much as we are able to, attempting to independently verify whatever information has reached us.
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.
Quran 49:6
Stand persistently for justice, says our Book, even against our own selves. Be just, knowing that God is our witness. And do not mix the truth with falsehood, it says, or conceal the truth while you know it.
And of the people is he who trades in tales to mislead from the way of God without knowledge and who takes His way in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.
Quran 31:6
It couldn’t be any clearer: over and over, our Book petitions us to be truthful. It is an act of faith, and the character of the believer. To witness to a verified truth in full, neither mixed with falsehood, nor partially obscured or concealed.
God will say, “This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” For them are gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, God being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment.
Quran 5:119
