Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk.. nice idea… however…

The integrated Casa Keys keyboard doesn’t appear to be backlit… it looks very much like their K380 keyboard, but with square keys.

I do like the idea of the Casa Touch touchpad, assuming it’s decent. And it’s nice that it’s all packaged together as storage when not in use, opening into a stand when needed.

But back to that however… my DIY version comprises:

A BoYata folding aluminium laptop stand, which folds flat into a compact package about the size of ruler when not in use, costing £15.

Logitech MX Mini keyboard. I consider £100 a bit expensive for a keyboard personally, but discounts are always available if you keep your eyes peeled.

Logitech M185 wireless mouse, retailing for £10. My old programmable ergonomic mouse turned out to be a waste of money.

A generic laptop sleeve which came with an old travel bag.

The same thing, really, except that the Casa Pop-Up Desk retails for £180, which to me seems like a clever way of increasing the markup on what is basically keyboard combo in a box.

Is the stand / storage worth the additional £70 — or £120 if the keyboard really is a rebranded K380? Doubtful.

My own setup includes a few extras for the price, including a portable USB-C monitor and compact travel power adapter. Though not quite as elegant as Logitech’s solution, the whole package including laptop fits into a single sleeve.

In my view, you’re better off building your own pop-up desk, tailored to your own particular needs, than lining the pockets of a tech giant inventing new ploys to squeeze extra cash out of their customers.
