Talk radio and the press want the people to busy themselves getting wound up about gender identity, black lives matter, immigration and extremism. Why? Because it prevents us from addressing the real issues.
What are the so-called culture wars? In truth? In my opinion, they’re merely a device invented by the rich to distract from the fact that the world’s largest economies cannot deliver basic necessities to their people.
Talk radio, the press and their sponsors don’t want you getting wound up about your government’s stupendous corruption. They don’t want you getting angry that a fifth of the population and 30% of children live in poverty. They don’t want you to ask why the third-sector is now tasked with providing lifelines traditionally provided by the state.
What are you getting angry about? Think about it. What animates your conversations? What are people talking about at work? What agitates friends and family? Take time to ponder and reflect. What are the real issues in your lives?
Reflecting, on what really matters to you, hopefully you’ll be less likely to get played by those tasked with setting the daily agenda for the nation.
