To phone home, you used to have to use a special access code to get cheap international calls, but still you’d keep them short.

Then came that era conversing via MSN Messenger, firing up the dial-up internet. Later, attempting to video call, only to spend hours faffing about trying to help the other end get their camera, microphone or speaker working.

But look at us now. Today you spend hours every day engaged in group video calls, on your phone, speaking to your mother, sister, niece, brother, and all the extended family.

Daily you’re checking up on your other place, viewing live cctv feeds on your tablet. The world has shrunk before our very eyes.

Do you remember the road we walked before this, and how much our world has changed?
