There’s always that senior exec who insists on throwing out the old and bringing in the new, splashing cash on some new technology, sold to them with a swish marketing presentation.

But our problem is not tech, but people. You can’t recruit the right people, because you don’t pay competitive wages. You can’t develop the people you have, because you won’t invest in training. You don’t incentivise them to up their game, because they’re already overstretched, and verging on burnout.

I’ll grant you: maybe some semi-autonomous AI can help you cut a few corners, but A. you can’t afford it and B. it’s not actually that good. No amount of shiny tech is going to solve your problem, if you dare not consider what the actual problem you’re trying to resolve is.
