Everybody has dark periods of despair that can lead them close to the edge. Sometimes it can be difficult to rationalise or justify, especially to those around you.

Despite outwardly living a comfortable and content life, I experienced a period of overwhelming depression from the age of 14 to 19. The last couple of years of that period were the worst. At my lowest ebb, I ended up injuring myself, but that also became a turning point. I decided to find a new way forward; a way out.

There is no transformative switch you can flip, which will turn your life around in an instant. But there are steps you can take.
