Muslims converts, as a statistically insignificant demographic, have a tightrope to walk. To live wholesome lives to the best of our abilities, without arrogating to ourselves a special status. It is important to remember that every person has to make a choice: whether to believe or not.
In nearly every outwardly Muslim family I know, that reality is at play, with some siblings choosing to walk the path of faith and others choosing not to. Sometimes parents are religious, but their children are not at all. Sometimes children choose to practice their faith, but their parents don’t.
In this sense, converts are not that different from any other believer. It’s best that this reality dawns sooner rather than later. Try not to become a minor celebrity. Just be yourself and live life to your fullest amongst your own circle of influence.
