Advice to the young and timid: never, ever get your mate to sort anything out for you.

You have no control of what may come out of his mouth. You have no idea how he might interpret or embellish your sentiments.

If he offers to help, tell him: “No thanks.” Just shrink away, back into yourself, content with your lot.

Take it from a middle-aged grump: if you ask anything of your mate, you will still be cringing before your mirror three decades later.

Just leave it: it’s not worth it. Anything worth pursuing, you should pursue yourself.
