What if you discover, twenty-five years later, that all your assumptions were wrong? I think I’ve just discovered that. I was completely wrong in everything I once thought to be true, reconfirming words of truth:
O you who have believed, avoid much assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And keep your duty to God; indeed, God is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
Quran 49:12
