Simplistic binaries are no way to interact with the world. Just because vile racists pounce upon a case of Muslim wrongdoing for their own political ends, it does not make that case of Muslim wrongdoing right. Just because your sworn adversaries are pouncing on something you said or did, it does not mean you are innocent. Just because you find yourself under attack, it does not mean that you are righteous. We live in a multi-threaded world, where things are not black and white, right and wrong, good and bad, left and right. On one issue you may find yourself in the same camp as your worst enemies; on another you may stand vehemently against them. It is the way of the world. The simplistic binaries we so love are the root of injustice, for in place of truth or fairness we put our side. Our side, which must always stand in opposition to the other, when in fact it is not like that at all. We do not live in a binary world.
