Stinky

By Timothy Bowes with 2 reader notes

Most search engine terms that people use to find my website are quite mundane and boring. This one today really made me laugh, however: ‘muslims are smelly neighbours london‘.

They would have got my post on remembering your neighbours’ rights, but all sorts of pictures are now flowing through my mind…

An estate agent who can’t work out why he can’t sell any houses on his portfolio, a buyer who has found his dream home but has discovered the neighbours are Muslims, a householder with a blocked drain who can’t work out where the smell is coming from. Or could this be the latest BNP campaign? Who needs spurious demographics when a simple appeal to nasal assault will do?

Thank you dear googler, you have cheered me up no end.

  1. I’m guessing its the aromas of luscious Iftari food being cooked this Ramadan. Our street (not in London!) has the most amazing smells wafting around an hour or so before sunset. An attack of sour grapes is understandable if all that poor Googler ever received was the scent and not the substance. A hint to spread the Iftari joy a little wider than just your Muslim neighbours perhaps?

  2. It is quite fascinating. Another search that landed a googler on my site yesterday was “neighbour’s extractor fan”.
