People, like you and I

By Timothy Bowes

As depressing as the violence are the public opinion forums that follow the coverage of these events on the websites of our media providers. In choosing sides, assigning blame, judging and belittling, it is as if the humanity of the victims has been forgotten.

The truth of that old Swahili proverb strikes true once more: “When elephants fight, it is the grass that gets crushed.”

Perhaps these two articles will remind us who the victims really are: ordinary folk like you and I, just trying to live ordinary lives. Just people like you and I.
