Karadeniz Yaylaları

By Zeynep Bowes with 3 reader notes

A friend drew our attention to this video on CNN Turk about going to Yayla (highlands) in Black Sea, Turkey. Even if you can’t understand Turkish it is still good to watch because it shows what life is like up there. My own mother goes up every year; indeed she headed off just last week to spend the summer up in the cooler mountain air. Tim wrote about his trip up the mountain a couple of years ago, but he didn’t have any photos to accompany it because we forgot to take our camera. Hopefully this video fills the gap.

  3. As-salamu ‘alaykum Brother Timothy,

I have been a silent reader of your blog since long way back when the design of your blog was quite different from the current look. I highly enjoy reading your blog and learning from what you have to share (your experiences, thoughts, tidbits on life)
My husband and I are planning to visit Turkey for the first time this January I wanted to get tips from you and your wife. Is January a good time to visit Turkey or we should wait for summer months? We would prefer not to stay at hotels but with locals who are open with having guests over would you know of any such people? I would really love if you could guide on making most of one week in Turkey. (you and your wife are more than welcome to contact me via e-mail)

    Jazak’Allah khayr.
